Jordan Brand Classic International Tour

Good morning!  That was one of the best nights of sleep I have ever had. When traveling Internationally (or across any time zones), it is really important to adjust your body to the time difference as soon as possible.

So, it made the most sense to stay up as long as I could yesterday to get back to regular sleeping hours — for me it was 9 pm to 7 am here locally. My body was so tired even though it was really 12 noon Phoenix time when I went to bed. Crazy, huh? The good news is that Marc received his luggage last night so things are looking up.

My hotel room is very nice and has a lot of unique features. I have a “waterfall” shower, which is just like the deluge ones you used to have in Chemistry class. It just pours down over you from about 9 feet. The television is an incredible flat screen with about 40 channels – but not too many in English.

When entering your room, you have to put your key card in a slot right inside the door to turn on the electricity in the room. The lights are all sensorred so if you sit on your bed for 30 minutes then will all go out automatically — great idea, until you need to stumble over everything to get them back on.

All of the power outlets require a converter so I am limited with being able to plug in my laptop, cel phone, iPod and camera throughout the day. This is pretty standard in any Euopean country. The beds are also very comfortable — but I could sleep on anything during this trip. Well I am off to breakfast for a little bit – I will check back soon! We have a bunch of meetings and prep time today, topped off by my first EuroLeague game tonight – EFES PILSEN (turkey) vs. REAL MADRID (spain). I am very excited about it!

Tracy McGrady Traded to Knicks

The highest paid player in the NBA, Tracy McGrady, is headed to the New York Knicks.  The Houston Rockets will get guard Kevin Martin from the Sacramento Kings and forwards Jordan Hill and Jared Jeffries from the New York Knicks.  The Rockets will also have the right to swap first- round picks in 2011 with the Knicks in addition to a take on New York’s 2012 first-round pick.

The Sacramento Kings acquire forwards Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey from Houston along with guard Larry Hughes from New York.  Carl Landry will be the 6th Man of the Year in the NBA.

McGrady is coveted for his enormous expiring deal, which could help a club knock significant dollars off the payroll at the end of the season. With several major free agents like Lebron James and Dwyane Wade in the summer of 2010, teams like the Knicks are looking to shed as much salary as possible.

In his sixth season with Houston, McGrady has appeared in just six games in 2009-10 after undergoing microfracture surgery last year on his knee and has scored 19 points.

NBA All-Star Game Recap

Shakira

Shakira

I must say, the 2010 NBA All-Star game at Dallas Cowboys Stadium was pretty cool. Besides Dwyane Wade, my MVP goes to Shakira. For most of the bball game, the crowd was silent, as in you could hear the person breathing next to you. The 108,731 people didn’t make too much noise until Shakira took the stage and stole the show.
